Determination of the Fallen

My dear brothers and sisters in Islam, this article is in representation about a time where in the Prophet’s (PBUH) life in Makkah was very harsh, but Muslims were determined to keep there minds on the straight path no matter what the cause. We think that in their time that they were primitive, but in truth, they may be the most advanced in human intellect. In consideration, the people, the companions of the Prophet (PBUH) were probably the most determined people that this world has ever seen, one of them being Musab Ibn-Umair.
A few years after the revelation of Islam came to the Prophet, livelihood in Makkah was very rough for the Muslims. Many Muslims moved to Abyssinia, so that they would be able to practice there religion freely. Musab went ahead and moved to Abyssinia, so that he would be able to better serve his Creator. Rumors came to Abyssinia claiming that living in Makkah was much easier. Musab then went to Makkah to see if these rumors were indeed true. As he reached Makkah he realized the true essence of the rumor was wrong, but when he entered Makkah, Musab’s mother tried to make an attempt to gain control of him and threatened to have him tied up and confined. Musab swore that if she were to do that, he would kill everyone who helped her. She knew very well that he would carry out this threat for she saw the iron determination he, Musab, now had. Separation was inevitable. When the moment came, it was sad for both mother and son, but it revealed a strong persistence in kufr on the part of the mother and an even greater persistence in iman on the part of the son.
I want you to imagine saying, if you are a son/daughter, to your mother the same thing that Musab said to his mother. And I want the mothers to imagine saying what Musab’s mother said to your son/daughter. Do you know how much guilt you would feel? You can’t even imagine saying this even if you were in this situation. At least I couldn’t. This is where our determination is waning in our lives today.
Our iman is on a steady downfall when it should be at the top nowadays when the world is realizing the truth of Islam. After 9/11, the Iraq war, more and more people are realizing what wrong they have put upon us, THE Muslims. We cannot go outside and try to assimilate with the people today. Instead we need to try and make ourselves outliers, so that people may recognize us. We need to make them recognize our valor, our virtues, our honor, and our respect for others. Many people today go outside afraid that they may be persecuted for being Muslim, so they hide there identity. Changing there name from Abdullah to Abdul. Not wearing there hijab, not wearing thobes because they themselves are afraid of being called out, or hurt; when people during the Prophets (PBUH) time were BURNED for the fact of being Muslims and still were on the straight path and what does that make of us? What does that mean to us? I guess it means nothing to people today.. There is a reason why I say, “we,” in this article and that is because we are all one community, and we are all one Ummah. We are the Ummah of the Prophet (PBUH). So let’s determine ourselves to tell the world what the truth of Islam is and who are the Muslims. May Allah let us come with in ranks with the companions of the Prophet (PBUH).
Ameen
